I present av David fick jag en utflykt till Mariefred med övernattning. När jag fick det hade han bokat in två dagar veckan efter men vädret verkade bli så dåligt då att vi bokade om det till min första lediga dag på semestern. Så i lördagsmorse kl 10.00 gick båten från Stadshuskajen mot Mariefred. Härliga 3,5 timme på ångbåten s/s Mariefred, denna över hundra år gamla ångbåt.
Vi var framme i Mariefred kl 13.30 och styrde stegen mot värdshuset där vi skulle bo, Gripsholms värdshus, Sveriges äldsta värdshus, startat 1609. Vi gick dit för att få lämna ryggsäcken där medan vi vandrade omkring i stan men hon sa då att rummet redan var ledigt och vi kunde checka in på en gång. Hon följde med oss för att visa vart rummet låg men sista biten förklarade hon bara hur vi skulle gå. När jag tog nyckeln för att kolla rumsnumret så står där Gustav III sviten… öppnar dörren och ser detta.
Kakorna var goda men portvinet (?) var lite väl starkt. Bara jag som vågade mig på att dricka av det.
Jag tittade på David och undrade om han blivit galen. Jag undrade vad det var han hade i planerna för kvällen. David såg mest orolig ut och när vi ser kakelugnen i badrummet, där bredvid bubbelbadkaret så säger David att det måste ha blivit något fel, detta är inte riktigt vad han beställt. Så han går ner till receptionen och frågar… hennes svar : Ibland blir det så att våra vanliga dubbelrum tar slut och då uppgraderar vi några till sviterna. WOHO!!!! Vi kilar tillbaka till rummet som uppenbarligen är vårt rum och vågar nu gå längre in än de två meter vi kom in första gången innan vi stannade i chocktillstånd.
Badrummet är underbart, bubbelbadkaret invigs senare på kvällen och vi inser nu att vi måste ha ett sånt fast lite större. Själva vardagsrummet är helmysigt och utsikten över Gripsholms slott syns från alla fönster. När vi ser trappan (!) upp till övervåningen så inser vi att detta är med marginal det finaste rum vi nånsin bott i. När vi förlovade oss i Trosa så bodde vi i en svit men den var ingenting mot denna. På övervåningen så finns sovrummet, med platt TV och dubbelsängarna med Hästens sängar i. Underbart! Jag funderade allvarligt på att aldrig lämna rummet nånsin.
Efter lite vila så beger vi oss ut på Mariefreds gator, vandrar runt lite och hittar efter ett tag ett fält med diverse riddarrelaterade stånd och uppvisningar. Vi hade prickat in Riddardagarna på vårt besök och går omkring där ett tag. Men vi ser inte själva spelen, känner oss rätt nöjda med att bara gå omkring på själva området.
Är det här lika gott som det ser ut? Har aldrig provat. Ser goda ut gör de i alla fall.
Köper lite jordgubbar och sätter oss och äter i parken nere vid slottet, där den lokala ridskolan anordnar ponnyridning, de hade tagit dit tre små shetlandsponnys som de klätt upp i riddaraoutfit, hur söta som helst. Vädret är kanon och vi går runt slottet och kikar på utsidan. Med i presenten så ingick inträde till slottet men det tänkte vi göra dagen efter. David klår mig sen i minigolf, har inte vunnit en enda gång i år…. får bli ändring på det. Går tillbaka till värdshuset och gör oss i ordning för middagen. Sitter vid deras uteservering med utsikt över hamnen och slottet, äter hur god mat som helst. Mmm… Efter middagen så tänkte vi gå på en promenad inne i stan men då börjar det droppa från himlen och vi vänder tillbaka till vårt rum. Bor man nu i en svit så vill man ju njuta lite av lyxen av att kunna springa omkring på de två planen.
Dagen efter så äter vi en gudomligt god frukost, man kunde grädda sina egna våfflor… våfflor till frukost men en hel radda med olika sylter och sen lite grädde på det. Allt var supergott. Trötta som vi är så går vi upp och lägger oss och sover/vilar tills vi är tvungna och checka ut! Så himla vi.
Nyutcheckade, nöjda och glada
På slottet hoppade vi på en guidad visning, brukar vanligtvis inte gå på såna men här kändes det ok. Enkelt sätt att få reda på de roligaste detaljerna. Efter visningen så gick vi omkring och tittade på allting igen.
Efter en lunch på hotellet så gick vi runt på gatorna tills båten kom vid 16.30 för att hämta oss igen. Hittade lite fåglar vid hamnen, bland annat denna fiskmåsunge (tror jag) som övade sig på att starta flygturen från vattnet. Verkade ha en hel del övning kvar.

På hemresan så var det lite sämre väder men det gick bra att sitta ute, det var bara det att det vart lite ruggigt att sitta så i 3,5 timme. Lagom tills att vi var lite väl frusna så var det dags för middag i båtens servering. Ingen gourmetmat men helt ok. Vi hade väl blivit lite kräsna efter all den goda maten på värdshuset.
